अ॒भि तष्टे॑व दीधया मनी॒षामत्यो॒ न वा॒जी सु॒धुरो॒ जिहा॑नः । अ॒भि प्रि॒याणि॒ मर्मृ॑श॒त्परा॑णि क॒वीँरि॑च्छामि सं॒दृशे॑ सुमे॒धाः
abhi taṣṭeva dīdhayā manīṣāmatyo na vājī sudhuro jihānaḥ abhi priyāṇi marmṛśatparāṇi kavīm̐ricchāmi saṃdṛśe sumedhāḥ
I have struck with brilliance; with supreme mind I am not a base steed or a loose tongued one. I cherish the beloved; longing for the poet‑minds, I desire the wise who are of noble sight.
Repeat (to Indra) pious praise, as a carpenter (plural nes the wood), and engaging (zealously in sacred rites), as a quick horse bearing well his burden; endowed with intelligence, and refllecting upon the future acts acceptable (to Indra), I desire to behold the sages (whohave gone to heaven).
HASTING like some strong courser good at drawing, a thought have I imagined like a workman. Pondering what is dearest and most noble, I long to see the sages full of wisdom.
