anu kṛṣṇe vasudhitī jihāte ubhe sūryasya maṃhanā yajatre pari yatte mahimānaṃ vṛjadhyai sakhāya indra kāmyā ṛjipyāḥ
I placed both offerings on the black earth at the great sun’s rite. Around your famed greatness Swift Indra, friend of the sacrificial folk, eager and straightforward, stood.
The two adorable (alternations of) day and night, upholding (all things) by the might of the sun, successively revolve; your sincere and acceptable friends (the Maruts) are ready to encounter (your foes) and maintain your greatness.
To thee proceed the dark, the treasure-holders, both of them sanctified by Surya's bounty. The while thy ovely storming Friends, O Indra, fail to attain the measure of thy greatness.
