I am Agni by birth, born of the Knower (of births). Ghee is my eye, immortal mead my portion. The radiant one from the threefold element, the swift, the heat — I am the offering's name.

I, Agni, am by birth endowed with knowledge of all that exists; clarified butter is my eye; ambrosia is my mouth; I am the living breath of threefold nature, the measure of the firmament, eternal warmth; I am also the oblation.

Agni am I who know, by birth, all creatures. Mine eye is butter, in my mouth is nectar.
