agne divo arṇamacchā jigāsyacchā devām̐ ūciṣe dhiṣṇyā ye yā rocane parastātsūryasya yāścāvastādupatiṣṭhanta āpaḥ
Agni, you have desired the wide realms of heaven and the sea; you call the gods with earnestness. The waters that stand nearest to the sun and those that abide below—these you ordain.
You move, Agni, to the vapour in heaven; you congregate the divinities who are the vital airs (of the body); you animate the waters in the bright region above the sun, as well as those that are in the firmament beneath.
O Agni, to the sea of heaven thou goest: thou hast called hither Gods beheld in spirit. The waters, too, come hither, those up yonder in the Sun's realm of light, and those beneath it.
