प्राञ्चं॑ य॒ज्ञं च॑कृम॒ वर्ध॑तां॒ गीः स॒मिद्भि॑र॒ग्निं नम॑सा दुवस्यन् । दि॒वः श॑शासुर्वि॒दथा॑ कवी॒नां गृत्सा॑य चित्त॒वसे॑ गा॒तुमी॑षुः
prāñcaṃ yajñaṃ cakṛma vardhatāṃ gīḥ samidbhiragniṃ namasā duvasyan divaḥ śaśāsurvidathā kavīnāṃ gṛtsāya cittavase gātumīṣuḥ
They performed the eastern rite; may strength increase. With fuel they honoured Agni with reverence. The heavenly laws governed the poets; they desired to sing, settled in the mind for aspiration.
We have performed, Agni, a successful sacrifice; may my praise magnify (you) as worshipping you with fuel and with reverence; (the gods) fromheaven desire the adoration of the pious, who are anxious to praise the adorable and mighty (Agni).
East have we turned the rite; may the hymn aid it. With wood and worship shall they honour Agni. From heaven the synods of the wise have learnt it: c'en for the quick and strong they seek advancement.
