Not southward nor to the left nor east nor west — Vasu and Vasavi, O Vasus, have been placed; bring courage, bring refuge, and grant us fearless shining light.
Neither is the right hand known to us, Ādityas, nor is the left; neither is that which is in front, nor that which is behind, (discerned by me); givers of dwellings, may I, who an immature (in knowledge), and timid (in spirit), obtain, when guided by you, the light that is free from fear.
Neither the right nor left do I distinguish, neither the cast nor yet the west, Adityas. Simple and guided by your wisdom, Vasus! may I attain the light that brings no danger.
