Who for this oblation arranged varied ghee-cakes and leads it forward is Brahmanaspati. He protects the wide-spreading rising dawn, the seers’ day and the light brought forth from the vast place.

Brahmaṇaspati leads by a straight path (to his reward), the worshipper who propitiates him with oblations of butter; he guards him against sin; he protects him from foes and from distress; and wonderful (in might) confers upon him many (favours).

Whoso hath honoured him with offerings rich in oil, him Brahmanaspati leads forward on his way, Saves him from sorrow, frees him from his enemy, and is his wonderful deliverer from woe.
