Whether by charm or by incense, whether by human craft or wolfish force, Brihaspati, make a safe path for us; O god-friend, strive for our protection.
Turn aside from (the true) path, Bṛhaspati, the arrogant and savage man who advances to injure us, although unoffending and keep us in the right way for (the completion of) this offering to the gods.
Him, too, who threatens us without offence of ours, the evilminded, arrogant, rapacious man,- Him turn thou from our path away, Brhaspati: give us fair access to this banquet of the Gods.
