evā ta indrocathamahema śravasyā na tmanā vājayantaḥ aśyāma tatsāptamāśuṣāṇā nanamo vadharadevasya pīyoḥ
Thus, O Indra, we praise you in the assemblies, not constrained by our own mind. This the black-blooded, sevenfold-sacrificing god, the peerless Lord, accepted the drink of the divine.
Through desire of food, Indra, we, contributing to your vigour, spontaneously address to you (our) praise; secure of you, may we rely upon your friendship; hurl your thunderbolt against the godless Pīyu.
So have we brought our hymn to thee, O Indra, strengthening thee and fain ourselves for glory. May we with best endeavours gain this friendship, and mayst thou bend the godless scorner's weapons.
