By whom peoples are overcome, whom warriors assail in battle and then appease with offerings — who became the adversary of the world’s opposing pride, the unfailing, that Indra I know.
Without whom men do not conquer; whom, when engaged in conflict, they invoke for succour; he, who is the prototype of the universe and the caster down of the unyielding; he, men, is Indra.
Without whose help our people never conquer; whom, battling, they invoke to give them succour; He of whom all this world is but the copy, who shakes things moveless, He, O men, is Indra.
