Indra, great, pierced the flood of the sea, the wonderful one, and he smote Vṛtra; he seized the fearful foe—his bolt sprang forth.
The mighty Indra has shattered the guileful Vṛtra reposing in the cloud;heaven and earth shook, alarmed at the thundering bolt of the showerer.
Indra hath hurled down the magician Vrtra who lay beleaguering the mighty river. Then both the heaven and earth trembled in terror at the strong Hero's thunder when he bellowed.
