O Agni, your priestly worship, your virtuous offspring, your guiding power — you are steadfast for Agni’s protection. You proclaimed the glorious weapon; you bestow sovereignty and are Brahman and householder to us; restrain and tame for our sake.

Yours, Agni, is the function of the Hotā, yours the duly-performed function of the Potā, yours thefunction of the Neṣṭā, you are the Agni of the sacrificer, yours is the office of the Praśāstā, you act asAdhvaryu, and you are the Brahmā and the lord of the mansion in our abode.

Thine is the Herald's task and Cleanser's duly timed; Leader art thou, and Kindler for the pious man. Thou art Director, thou the ministering Priest: thou art the Brahman, Lord and Master in our home.
