सू॒क्त॒वा॒कं प्र॑थ॒ममादिद॒ग्निमादिद्ध॒विर॑जनयन्त दे॒वाः । स ए॑षां य॒ज्ञो अ॑भवत्तनू॒पास्तं द्यौर्वे॑द॒ तं पृ॑थि॒वी तमापः॑
sūktavākaṃ prathamamādidagnimādiddhavirajanayanta devāḥ sa eṣāṃ yajño abhavattanūpāstaṃ dyaurveda taṃ pṛthivī tamāpaḥ
They first invoked the vocal hymn as Agni, the leader, and the gods brought him forth. This was their sacrifice: the bodily offerings—heaven knew it, the earth, and the waters.
The gods first genitive rated the words of the hymn, then Agni, then the oblation; he is the (object of the)sacrifice of these deities, the protector of the body; him the heaven knows, him the earth and the waters, know.
First the Gods brought the hymnal into being; then they engendered Agni, then oblation. He was their satrifice that guards our bodies: him the heavens know, the earth, the waters know him.
