यो होतासी॑त्प्रथ॒मो दे॒वजु॑ष्टो॒ यं स॒माञ्ज॒न्नाज्ये॑ना वृणा॒नाः । स प॑त॒त्री॑त्व॒रं स्था जग॒द्यच्छ्वा॒त्रम॒ग्निर॑कृणोज्जा॒तवे॑दाः
yo hotāsītprathamo devajuṣṭo yaṃ samāñjannājyenā vṛṇānāḥ sa patatrītvaraṃ sthā jagadyacchvātramagnirakṛṇojjātavedāḥ
He who was the first to offer the oblation, tasted by the gods, whom the sacrificers invoked in the sharing of ghee—he established the world’s order, stood as the lord of the altar, Agni made him born of Veda.
Who propitiated by the gods was the first offerer of oblations, whom his worshippers anoint withclarified butter-- he, Agni Jātavedas, quickly made that which can fly, that which can walk, that which isstationary, that which is moveable.
Earliest Priest whom all the Gods accepted, and chose him, and anointed him with butter, He swiftly made all things that fly, stand, travel, all that hath motion, Agni Jatavedas.
