uṣasāṃ na ketavo'dhvaraśriyaḥ śubhaṃyavo nāñjibhirvyaśvitan sindhavo na yayiyo bhrājadṛṣṭayaḥ parāvato na yojanāni mamire
Not the banners of dawn, nor the roads of splendour; auspicious rivers do not bend with our tongue. The Sindhu-born, the radiant-seen ones, beyond the east, do not join my chariots.
Who, radiant in sacrifices like the rays of the dawn, shine with their ornaments like those expectant ofgood fortune, (who) swift-moving like rivers, having bright weapons, have traversed leagues like mares who havejourneyed from far, (may they come to our sacrifice).
Like rays of Dawn, the visitors of sacrifice, they shine with ornaments as eager to be bright. Like rivers hasting on, glittering with their spears, from far away they measure out the distances.
