You, steadfast in friendship, said: they do not strike him among the possessors of wealth. He treads not under; this speech, heard, brings results—flowers of reward will bloom.
They call one man firmly established in the friendship (of Speech), they do not exclude him from (thesociety of) the powerful (in knowledge); another wanders with an illusion that is barren, bearing Speech that iswithout fruit, without flowers.
One man they call a laggard, dull in friendship: they never urge him on to deeds of valour. He wanders on in profitless illusion: the Voice he heard yields neither fruit, nor blossom.
