As if to be anointed, they purified where the wise made speech with steadfast mind. Friends know friendships; in their words is placed the auspicious fortune.
When the wise create Speech through wisdom winnowing (it) as (men winnow) barley with a sieve, then friends know friendship; good fortune is plural ced upon their word.
Where, like men cleansing corn-flour in a cribble, the wise in spirit have created language, Friends see and recognize the marks of friendship: their speech retains the blessed sign imprinted.
