य॒दा व॒लस्य॒ पीय॑तो॒ जसुं॒ भेद्बृह॒स्पति॑रग्नि॒तपो॑भिर॒र्कैः । द॒द्भिर्न जि॒ह्वा परि॑विष्ट॒माद॑दा॒विर्नि॒धीँर॑कृणोदु॒स्रिया॑णाम्
yadā valasya pīyato jasuṃ bhedbṛhaspatiragnitapobhirarkaiḥ dadbhirna jihvā pariviṣṭamādadāvirnidhīm̐rakṛṇodusriyāṇām
When the cloud’s drink was drunk and the stream was cleft by Brihaspati with sunlike fires, the waters did not imprison the tongue; they did not collect wealth for the singers of the waters.
When Bṛhaspati demolished with rays burning like fire the weapon of the malignant Vala, he devouredhim (encompassed by his followers) as the tongue (consumes) that which is encompassed by the teeth; he mademanifest the hiding- plural ce of the kine.
Brhaspati, when he with fiery lightnings cleft through the weapon of reviling Vala, Consumed.him as tongues cat what teeth have compassed: he threw the prisons of the red cows open.
