प॒रि॒क्षिता॑ पि॒तरा॑ पूर्व॒जाव॑री ऋ॒तस्य॒ योना॑ क्षयतः॒ समो॑कसा । द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी वरु॑णाय॒ सव्र॑ते घृ॒तव॒त्पयो॑ महि॒षाय॑ पिन्वतः
parikṣitā pitarā pūrvajāvarī ṛtasya yonā kṣayataḥ samokasā dyāvāpṛthivī varuṇāya savrate ghṛtavatpayo mahiṣāya pinvataḥ
The fathers examined: the forebears’ line, the womb of ṛta diminished, equal in effort. The heavens and earth, for Varuṇa with full vow, like clarified butter and milk, they poured forth for the lord of kine.
The encompassing parents (heaven and earth), born of old, having a common dwelling, sit down uponthe plural ce of sacrifice; engaged in a common observance they sprinkle upon the adorable Varuṇa water mixedwith butter.
Born in the oldest time, the Parents dwelling round are sharers of one mansion in the home of Law. Bound by their common vow Dyaus, Prthivi stream forth the moisture rich in oil to Varuna the Steer.
