अधा॒ ह्य॑ग्ने म॒ह्ना नि॒षद्या॑ स॒द्यो ज॑ज्ञा॒नो हव्यो॑ ब॒भूथ॑ । तं ते॑ दे॒वासो॒ अनु॒ केत॑माय॒न्नधा॑वर्धन्त प्रथ॒मास॒ ऊमाः॑
adhā hyagne mahnā niṣadyā sadyo jajñāno havyo babhūtha taṃ te devāso anu ketamāyannadhāvardhanta prathamāsa ūmāḥ
Below, O Agni, loud one, he was thrust down; immediately the knowing rite became the oblation. Followed by the gods, they ran under the flag; the first Umas increased.
Since you, Agni, born in your glory and having sat down (on the altar), are immediately entitled to theoblation; therefore, the holy (priests) come to that your ensign and the mos worthy (worshippers) prosperprotected (by you).
Yea, at thy birth, when thou hadst sat in glory, thou, Agni, wast the aim of invocations. The Gods came near, obedient to thy sunimons, and thus attained their rank as chief Protectors.
