स॒प्त म॒र्यादाः॑ क॒वय॑स्ततक्षु॒स्तासा॒मेका॒मिद॒भ्यं॑हु॒रो गा॑त् । आ॒योर्ह॑ स्क॒म्भ उ॑प॒मस्य॑ नी॒ळे प॒थां वि॑स॒र्गे ध॒रुणे॑षु तस्थौ
sapta maryādāḥ kavayastatakṣustāsāmekāmidabhyaṃhuro gāt āyorha skambha upamasya nīḷe pathāṃ visarge dharuṇeṣu tasthau
Seven poet-standards quickly rose together; the iron pillars like a beam stood in the blue path, sent forth on the earth.
The ise have established seven rules of conduct; he is a sinner who deviates from any one of theṃAgni is the obstructor of (that) man, he abides in the dwelling of his neighbour, in the region of the scattering ofthe rays, and in the recipient (waters).
Seven are the pathways which the wise have fashioned; to one of these may come the troubled mortal. He standeth in the dwelling of the Highest, a Pillar, on sure ground where paths are parted.
