नि प॒स्त्या॑सु त्रि॒तः स्त॑भू॒यन्परि॑वीतो॒ योनौ॑ सीदद॒न्तः । अतः॑ सं॒गृभ्या॑ वि॒शां दमू॑ना॒ विध॑र्मणाय॒न्त्रैरी॑यते॒ नॄन्
ni pastyāsu tritaḥ stabhūyanparivīto yonau sīdadantaḥ ataḥ saṃgṛbhyā viśāṃ damūnā vidharmaṇāyantrairīyate nṝn
From the two reversed channels the streams were fixed, encircling the womb they sat within. Then, gathering stores, they restrained the realms; by appointed instruments men were governed.
Occupying three (satations), consolidation (the dwelling of the worshipper), surrounded (by flames),he sits down upon the altar in the chambers (of sacrifice); from there, having accepted (the oblations) of thepeople, with intent to give (them to the gods), in various ways, he (Agni) goes to the gods holding (his foes) incheck.
