When the gods devised sacrifice with the tongue, with mighty mind and intent to perform the divine rite—he who sought to harm you with fell wrath, the Vasavas have in this placed him down.
Whatever sin, great and exciting the wrath of the gods, we have committed against you, O gods, bythe tongue, or the working of the mind, do you, Vasu, transfer that sin to him, who assailing terrifies us.
If by some grievous sin we have provoked the Gods, O Deities, with the tongue or thoughtlessness of heart, That guilt, O Vasus, lay upon the Evil One, on him who ever leads us into deep distress.
