यदा॒दीध्ये॒ न द॑विषाण्येभिः परा॒यद्भ्योऽव॑ हीये॒ सखि॑भ्यः । न्यु॑प्ताश्च ब॒भ्रवो॒ वाच॒मक्र॑त॒ँ एमीदे॑षां निष्कृ॒तं जा॒रिणी॑व
yadādīdhye na daviṣāṇyebhiḥ parāyadbhyo'va hīye sakhibhyaḥ nyuptāśca babhravo vācamakratam̐ emīdeṣāṃ niṣkṛtaṃ jāriṇīva
When enemies are not near, friends become distant; the oxen lowered their speech. Like a she-goat driven out, they were cast off from these, released in old age.
When I relect, (then I say), "I will plural y no more with them". I pay attention to my friends who desert(me); and the tawny dice rattle as they are thrown; I hasten to their accusative tomed plural ce as a harlot (to anassignation).
When I resolve to play with these no longer, my friends depart from me and leave me lonely. When the brown dice, thrown on the board, have rattled, like a fond girl I seek the place of meeting.
