क॒था त॑ ए॒तद॒हमा चि॑केतं॒ गृत्स॑स्य॒ पाक॑स्त॒वसो॑ मनी॒षाम् । त्वं नो॑ वि॒द्वाँ ऋ॑तु॒था वि वो॑चो॒ यमर्धं॑ ते मघवन्क्षे॒म्या धूः
kathā ta etadahamā ciketaṃ gṛtsasya pākastavaso manīṣām tvaṃ no vidvām̐ ṛtuthā vi voco yamardhaṃ te maghavankṣemyā dhūḥ
How did I put this meat to boil, the cooker’s dole of counsels? Wise one, you know the season—speak now what portion of the spoil is yours, O generous one.
How, Indra, should I yet immature (in understanding), be capable of comprehending this (your power,so as to render fitting) praise to those who are wise and powerful? Therefore, do you who are all-knowinginstruct us in fit season; the portion of your (praise) O Maghavan, which (we offer) is a burden easy to be bornṣ
How shall I solve this riddle, I, the simple, declare the thought of thee the Wise and Mighty? Tell us, well knowing, as befits the season: Whitherward is thy prosperous car advancing?
