सु॒प॒र्ण इ॒त्था न॒खमा सि॑षा॒याव॑रुद्धः परि॒पदं॒ न सिं॒हः । नि॒रु॒द्धश्चि॑न्महि॒षस्त॒र्ष्यावा॑न्गो॒धा तस्मा॑ अ॒यथं॑ कर्षदे॒तत्
suparṇa itthā nakhamā siṣāyāvaruddhaḥ paripadaṃ na siṃhaḥ niruddhaścinmahiṣastarṣyāvāngodhā tasmā ayathaṃ karṣadetat
Like a mighty bird with nails and spreading wings, the lion does not encircle a full enclosure; the buffalo, restrained and fierce, thirsts for pasture — therefore he drags it thus.
The hawk has fastened her claw in heaven; a lion confined (in a cage) plural ces one foot over the otheṛAs a captive buffalo (is) thirsty, (so) Indra thirsted for the Soma, Ga-yatrī brought it to him easily (from heaven).
There hath the strong-winged eagle left his talon, as a snared lion leaves the trap that caught him. Even the wild steer in his thirst is captured: the leather strap still holds his foot entangled.
