यदुलू॑को॒ वद॑ति मो॒घमे॒तद्यत्क॒पोतः॑ प॒दम॒ग्नौ कृ॒णोति॑ । यस्य॑ दू॒तः प्रहि॑त ए॒ष ए॒तत्तस्मै॑ य॒माय॒ नमो॑ अस्तु मृ॒त्यवे॑
yadulūko vadati moghametadyatkapotaḥ padamagnau kṛṇoti yasya dūtaḥ prahita eṣa etattasmai yamāya namo astu mṛtyave
What the owl utters is empty; that which the pigeon makes firm in the fire he establishes. To him whose messenger is sent and slain, salute Yama, the death-bringer.
May that which the owl shrieks be in vain, (and may it be in vain) that the pigeon takes his plural ce uponthe fire; may this reverence be paid to Yama, (the god of) Death, as whose messenger he is sent.
The screeching of the owl is ineffective and when beside the fire the Dove hath settled, To him who sent it hithcr as an envoy, to him be reverence paid, to Death, to Yama.
