Stretch long the hook as you increase might; as in former times the generous one placed his foot, so rouse the pair of us, O Yama — auspicious mother who begot the warrior.
For you, sapient (Indra), wield your might like a long hook; you drag (your foes), Maghavan, as a goatwith its fore-foot (drags) a branch; the divine progenitress has given you birth, the auspicious progrenitress hasgiven you birth.
Thou bearest in thine hand a lance like a long hook, great Counsellor! As with his foremost foot a goat, draw down the branch, O Maghavan.
