yathā ha tyadvasavo gauryaṃ citpadi ṣitāmamuñcatā yajatrāḥ evo ṣva1smanmuñcatā vyaṃhaḥ pra tāryagne prataraṃ na āyuḥ
As the Vasus released the bright kine with measured steps, the worshippers let them go; so may we release our life each morning before Agni, may life not depart prematurely.
As you, adorable Vasus, set free the cow fastened by her foot, even so remove sin away from us, andprolong, Agni, our protracted life.
As in this place, O Holy Ones, ye Vasus freed even the Gaud when her feet were fettered. So free us now from trouble and affliction: and let our life be lengthened still, O Api.
