आपो॑ ह॒ यद्बृ॑ह॒तीर्विश्व॒माय॒न्गर्भं॒ दधा॑ना ज॒नय॑न्तीर॒ग्निम् । ततो॑ दे॒वानां॒ सम॑वर्त॒तासु॒रेकः॒ कस्मै॑ दे॒वाय॑ ह॒विषा॑ विधेम
āpo ha yadbṛhatīrviśvamāyangarbhaṃ dadhānā janayantīragnim tato devānāṃ samavartatāsurekaḥ kasmai devāya haviṣā vidhema
Waters, proclaiming the great womb, produced the moving fire; from that firstborn of the gods the shining one returned — to which god shall we offer the oblation?
When the vast waters overspread the universe containing the germ and giving birth to Agni, then wasproduced the one breath of the gods -- let us offer worship with an oblation to the divine Ka.
What time the mighty waters came, containing the universal germ, producing Agni, Thence sprang the Gods' one spirit into being. What God shall we adore with our oblation?
