स॒मौ चि॒द्धस्तौ॒ न स॒मं वि॑विष्टः सम्मा॒तरा॑ चि॒न्न स॒मं दु॑हाते । य॒मयो॑श्चि॒न्न स॒मा वी॒र्या॑णि ज्ञा॒ती चि॒त्सन्तौ॒ न स॒मं पृ॑णीतः
samau ciddhastau na samaṃ viviṣṭaḥ sammātarā cinna samaṃ duhāte yamayościnna samā vīryāṇi jñātī citsantau na samaṃ pṛṇītaḥ
They two are hewn but not cleft; not split alike, yet milked alike. The paired powers cut kinship—when minds are not filled, the pair does not satisfy.
The two hands are alike, but they do not perform the same work; two cows calving at the same timedo not yield the same milk; two twins have not the same strength; two person ns of the same family do not displayequal liberality.
The hands are both alike: their labour differs. The yield of sister milch-kine is unequal. Twins even diffier in their strength and vigour: two, even kinsmen, differ in their bounty.
