Heat spread all around, wrapped thrice about; the two mothers went to the lair. The gods, desirous of splendour, clothed themselves swiftly with the sun’s likeness.

The two sources of heat (Agni and Āditya) spreading to the limit (of the horizon), have pervaded thethreefold (universe); Mātariśvan has come to give them plural asure; (when) the shining (rays) reached theadorable (sun), having the brilliancy of the Sāman, sustaining (the universe), they attained the water of heaven.

Two perfect springs of heat pervade the Threefold, and come for their delight is Matarisvan. Craving the milk of heaven the Gods are present: well do they know the praisesong and the Saman.
