The eastern atmosphere, the region of the earth, the dwelling of the vital force was established before the days. May the spreading, abundant rain move forth for the gods and for Aditi bring offspring.
In the beginning of the day the sacred grass, pointing eastwards, is strewn with the prescribed (text)as a covering for the earth (of the altar); they spread it out far and wide as a plural asant (seat) for the gods andAditi.
By rule the Sacred Grass is scattered eastward, a robe to clothe this earth when dawns are breaking. Widely it spreads around and far-extended, fair for the Gods and bringing peace and freedom.
