ब॒तो ब॑तासि यम॒ नैव ते॒ मनो॒ हृद॑यं चाविदाम । अ॒न्या किल॒ त्वां क॒क्ष्ये॑व यु॒क्तं परि॑ ष्वजाते॒ लिबु॑जेव वृ॒क्षम्
bato batāsi yama naiva te mano hṛdayaṃ cāvidāma anyā kila tvāṃ kakṣyeva yuktaṃ pari ṣvajāte libujeva vṛkṣam
You speak, you speak not—my mind and heart are not alien to you. I will bind you in another way, like lashing a tree firmly to its root.
(Yami speaks). Alas, Yama, you are feeble; we understand not your mind or your heart. Some otherfemale embraces you as a girth a horse, or as a creeper a tree.
Alas! thou art indeed a weakling, Yama we find in thee no trace of heart or spirit. As round the tree the woodbine clings, another will cling albout thee girt as with a girdle.
