Thus the Vasus, the dry-singing ones, praised him with voice; O Jātavedas, grant us the eastern light of dawn.

He, the blazing Agni, who is wise, and the granter of dwellings, is to be praised by our hymns; oḥ! you whose mouth (glows) with many (flames), shine (propitiously, so) that food-providing wealth may be ours.

He, Agni, kindled, good and wise, must be exalted in our song: Shine, thou of many forms, shine radiantly on us.
