Tearful ones spoke: the hosts of wealth, heroic men, the shining—these oppressed the hostile bands. In bonds they found steadiness, not seeing the wicked; the Maruts stood firm in your chariots.
Maruts, who are distinguished in troops, who are benevolent to men, who are heroes, and whose strength is deadly in your anger, you make heaven and earth resound (at your coming); your (glory) sits in the seat-furnished chariots, conspicuous as (a beautiful) form, or as the lovely lightning.
Heroes who march in companies, befriending man, with serpents' ire through strength, ye greet the earth and heaven. Upon the seats, O Maruts, of your chariots, upon the cars stands lightning visible as light.
