वह्निं॑ य॒शसं॑ वि॒दथ॑स्य के॒तुं सु॑प्रा॒व्यं॑ दू॒तं स॒द्योअ॑र्थम् । द्वि॒जन्मा॑नं र॒यिमि॑व प्रश॒स्तं रा॒तिं भ॑र॒द्भृग॑वे मात॒रिश्वा॑
vahniṃ yaśasaṃ vidathasya ketuṃ suprāvyaṃ dūtaṃ sadyoartham dvijanmānaṃ rayimiva praśastaṃ rātiṃ bharadbhṛgave mātariśvā
They set forth the famous fire as a banner, a swift messenger for immediate gain. Twice-born, praised like wealth, he held the night — Bharadvāja’s — and the Marīśvā’s.
Mātariśvan brought, as a friend, to Bhṛgu, the celebrated Vahni, the illuminato of sacrifices, the careful protector (of his votaries), the swift-moving messenger (of the gods), the offspring of two parents, (to be to him) as it were a precious treasure.
As 'twere Some goodly treasure Matarisvan brought, as a gift, the glorious Priest to Bhrgu, Banner of sacrifice, the good Protector, child of two births, the swiftly moving envoy.
