Not those whom heaven and earth did not wholly cover became renowned by wealth; Indra yoked the thunderbolt, the bull, the light—he struck down the darkness and then uttered praise.
When the waters descended not upon the ends of the earth, and overspread not that giver of affluence with its productions, then Indra, the showerer, grasped his bolt, and with its brightness milked out the waters from the darkness.
They who pervaded earth's extremest limit subdued not with their charms the Wealth-bestower: Indra, the Bull, made his ally the thunder, and with its light milked cows from out the darkness.
