न॒दं न भि॒न्नम॑मु॒या शया॑नं॒ मनो॒ रुहा॑णा॒ अति॑ य॒न्त्यापः॑ । याश्चि॑द्वृ॒त्रो म॑हि॒ना प॒र्यति॑ष्ठ॒त्तासा॒महिः॑ पत्सुतः॒शीर्ब॑भूव
nadaṃ na bhinnamamuyā śayānaṃ mano ruhāṇā ati yantyāpaḥ yāścidvṛtro mahinā paryatiṣṭhattāsāmahiḥ patsutaḥśīrbabhūva
Not broken was the river, nor sleeping its flow; minds swift as breath surpass the waters. When mighty Vrtra encircled the plain, they who were with him became like fallen birds, subdued.
The waters, that delight the minds (of men), flow over him, recumbent on this earth, as a river (bursts through) its broken (banks). Ahi has been prostrated beneath the feet of the waters, which Vṛtra, by his might, had obstructed.
There as he lies like a bank-bursting river, the waters taking courage flow above him. The Dragon lies beneath the feet of torrents which Vrtra with his greatness had encompassed.
