pānti mitrāvaruṇāvavadyāccayata īmaryamo apraśastān uta cyavante acyutā dhruvāṇi vāvṛdha īṃ maruto dātivāraḥ
Mitra and Varuṇa, revered, sprinkled forth; Yama struck down the wicked. The unfailing ones rose and were not moved; the steadfast Wind gave strength like a gift.
Mitra and Varuṇa, and Aryaman, defend (this) sacrifice from (all that is) reprehensible, and destroy (all that are) unworthy. They cause the yet unfallen and showering (rains) to descend, when, Maruts, the water-yielding (season) gives increase to this (world).
Mitra and Varuna they guard from censure: Aryaman too, discovers worthless sinners Firm things are overthrown that ne'er were shaken: he prospers, Maruts, who gives choice oblations.
