yūyaṃ na ugrā marutaḥ sucetunāriṣṭagrāmāḥ sumatiṃ pipartana yatrā vo didyudradati krivirdatī riṇāti paśvaḥ sudhiteva barhaṇā
You are not fierce, Maruts; wise and harmless, you bring good counsel to the peaceful villages. Where your gleaming ploughshares shine, the land pays tribute, like sheep repaying their debt to the hero.
Fierce Maruts, free from malevolence in your kindly thoughts, fulfil towards us your good purposes; when your missile lightning rends (the clouds), as a well-hurled weapon wound the deer.
Terrible Maruts, ye with ne'er-diminished host, with grcat benevolence fulfil our heart's desire. Where'er your lightning bites armed with its gory teeth it crunches up the cattle like a well-aimed dart.
