अ॒वः परे॑ण पि॒तरं॒ यो अ॑स्यानु॒वेद॑ प॒र ए॒नाव॑रेण । क॒वी॒यमा॑नः॒ क इ॒ह प्र वो॑चद्दे॒वं मनः॒ कुतो॒ अधि॒ प्रजा॑तम्
avaḥ pareṇa pitaraṃ yo asyānuveda para enāvareṇa kavīyamānaḥ ka iha pra vocaddevaṃ manaḥ kuto adhi prajātam
He who knew his father beyond the shore narrated the fatherhood by that shore-bearing. The most eloquent spoke here: ‘Whence is this mind, wherefrom are creatures?’
He who knows the protector of this (world) as the inferior associated with the superior, and the superior associated with the inferior, he is, as it were, a sage; but who in this world can expound (it); whence is the divine mind in its supremacy engendereḍ
Who, that the father of this Calf discerneth beneath the upper realm, above the lower, Showing himself a sage, may here declare it? Whence hath the Godlike spirit had its rising?
