trīṇi ta āhurdivi bandhanāni trīṇyapsu trīṇyantaḥ samudre uteva me varuṇaśchantsyarvanyatrā ta āhuḥ paramaṃ janitram
They said: three are the bands in the sky, three in the waters, three within the sea. Also Varuna, chief among them, they called the supreme progenitor.
They have said that there are your bindings in heaven three upon earth; and three in the firmament. You declare to me, Horse, who are (one with) Varuṇa, that which they have called your most excellent birth.
Three bonds, they say, thou hast in heaven that bind thee, three in the waters, three within the ocean. To me thou seernest Varuna , O Courser, there where they say is thy sublimest birth-place.
