Ill-famed Agni, shining in his hero-seat, dry with riches — by the wealthy ones, desiring the sacrificial law. Let the call restrain him; O clear-intentioned minds, I invoke that bright intelligence.
May Agni be ever desirous of our praise; may the giver of wealth satisfy our utmost expectation with riches; may the inspirer (of our devotion) hasten our rites to fruition. I glorify him, the radiant-limbed (Agni), with this laudation.
And will not Agni find enjoyment in our praise, will not the Vasu grant our wish with gifts of wealth? Will not the Inspirer speed our prayers to gain their end? Him with the radiant glance 1 laud with this my song.
