आद॑स्य॒ ते ध्व॒सय॑न्तो॒ वृथे॑रते कृ॒ष्णमभ्वं॒ महि॒ वर्पः॒ करि॑क्रतः । यत्सीं॑ म॒हीम॒वनिं॒ प्राभि मर्मृ॑शदभिश्व॒सन्स्त॒नय॒न्नेति॒ नान॑दत्
ādasya te dhvasayanto vṛtherate kṛṣṇamabhvaṃ mahi varpaḥ karikrataḥ yatsīṃ mahīmavaniṃ prābhi marmṛśadabhiśvasanstanayanneti nānadat
They struck down you, Krishna, in vain, O mighty one; the great herd bore you away with desperate deeds. Whoever pierced the earth’s surface and cleft it, breaking its trust, he did not delight therein.
Thereupon those (flames of Agni) extend together in all directions, dispersing gloom, and spreading great light along the path of darkness; when (Agni) illumines repeatedly the whole earth, and proceeds panting thundering, and roaring aloud.
Dispelling on their way the horror of black gloom , making a glorious show these flames Of his fly forth, When o'er the spacious tract he spreads himself abroad, and rushes panting on with thunder and with roar.
