Indra struck and split the thunderbolt in the belly of the god, the sharp edge pierced like a sacrificer slain; he cut with might. With strength endowed, Indra, with offerings like spoils, was vigorous. He struck down the forest-tree; you crushed it beside, you crushed it beside.
Grasping his sharp thunderbolt with both hands, Indra whetted it to hurl it (on his foes), like the water (of an imprecation); he whetted it for the destruction of Ahi. Grasping his thunderbolt with both hands, Indra made its edge most keen, for hurling, like a carving-knife for Ahi's slaughter made it keen. Endued with majesty and strength, O Indra, and with lordly might, Thou crashest down the trees, as when a craftsman fells, crashest them down as with an axe.
