Indra, who will bring us from the distant side, is not a false lord; he is the true leader, the sovereign of kings. We call you, go forth, O mighty, together with your sons. The sons do not deceive the father; they invoke the chief, they invoke the chief with strength.

Come to us, Indra, from afar; not as this (fire) which is before us, (but) like the pious instrumental tutor of sacrifices, or like the royal lord of the constellations (when going) to his setting. Bearing oblations, we, along with (the priests), invoke you to accept the effused (Soma), as sons (invite) a father to partake of food; (we invoke) you, who are most entitled to reverence, to (accept of) the sacrificial viands.

Come to us, Indra, from afar, conducting us even as a lord of heroes to the gatherings, home, like a King, his heroes' lord. We come with gifts of pleasant food, with juice poured forth, invoking thee, As sons invite a sire, that thou mayst get thee strength thee, bounteousest, to get thee strength.
