He who heard among elders in councils and was skilful for Indra’s strong offering, who did not spare men—he returns to men. He who is paired with heroes, who is assembled with brahmans, who turns the hymn—vanquisher of foes the invigorating singer; he does not regard the eager one as a mere singer.

Hear our invocation, Indra; you who in various battles (associated) with the Maruts, are animated through their encouragement; (and are able), with the Maruts, to destroy (your foes); (for you are) he, who, (aided) by heroes, are of yourself the giver (of victory); or, (when praised) by the pious, the giver of food, and whom the lords (of prayer) celebrate as swift-moving and eager (for sacrificial food), like a fleet courser (eager for forage).

Hear, Indra, thou whom men in every fight must call to show thy strength, for cry of battle with the men, with men of war for victory. He who with heroes wins the light, who with the singers gains the prize, Him the rich seek to gain even as a swift strong steed, even as a courser fleet and strong.
