Steadfast with strong will, follow not the bad path; the most radiant adorn the sacrificial seat, the sacrificer’s place. Whoever seizes the multitude gains the noble grove; the worshipper’s steady food and gathered vigor come from steadfast energy.
They have presented substantial donations to him, as (they give riches) to a sage, and by resplendent means he grants us (grace) for our preservation; (the worshipper) presents (gifts) to Agni for preservation; he who pervades the (many offerings made to him) consumes them (as rapidly) as (he consumes) forests; he matures the standing corn by his potency; he destroys whatever (things) are stationary by his potency.
To him, as one who knows, even things solid yield: unrough fire-sticks heated hot he gives his gifts to aid. Men offer Agni gifts for aid. He deeply piercing many a thing hews it like wood with fervent glow. Even hard and solid food he crunches with his might, yea, hard and solid food with might.
