saṃ mā tapantyabhitaḥ sapatnīriva parśavaḥ mūṣo na śiśnā vyadanti mādhyaḥ stotāraṃ te śatakrato vittaṃ me asya rodasī
Let them not, like a hostile wife’s neighbours, press upon me; may my loins not be pierced, nor my middle rend — bestow this wealth of hers, O Rodaśī, thou hundred-minded.
The ribs (of the well close) round me, like the rival wives (of one husband); cares consume me, Śatakratu, although your worshipper, as a rat (gnaws a weaver's) threads. Heaven and earth, be conscious of this (my affliction).
Like rival wives on every side enclosing ribs oppress me sore. O Satakratu, biting cares devour me, singer of thy praise, as rats devour the weaver's threads. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
